To refresh your memory, La Bohème follows four struggling bohemians living together in 19th century Paris – a poet, a painter, a musician and a philosopher. One freezing Christmas Eve their lives are changed forever when a girl named Mimì knocks on their door looking for a light for her candle. She and Rodolfo fall in love and as a consequence we get to hear a lot of fabulous Puccini music and to witness impending tragedy when it becomes clear that Mimì is seriously ill, and Rodolfo, in his poverty, cannot provide for her. Funding for this full opera production is in part through the Oliver G. & Sarah Sloan Bauman Fund for the Arts, The Erwin Johnson Memorial Fund, and NYSCA.
