IT’S VIRTUALLY CURTAIN UP!

The Theater Alliance of Buffalo (TAB) and the Theater District Association of WNY (TDA) present a Special VIRTUAL Curtain Up! 2020

My Curtain Up! watch party is planned for tonight. Champagne on the back porch with a couple of friends. But this year you have the luxury of hosting a Curtain Up! party whenever and wherever you want. The Theatre Alliance of Buffalo (TAB) and Theatre District Association of WNY (TDA) have collaborated to present “The Virtual Curtain Up! 2020.”

The 39th Annual Curtain Up! Was scheduled for Friday, September 11th. In response to the corona virus pandemic, which made inviting thousands of people to assemble downtown to drink, eat, attending shows, dance, and cavort in close proximity to each other seem like a poor idea, the event has been “reimagined” for this year.

On hiatus is the tradition of a posh dinner, live performances, and after-party on Main Street in the Theater District. “The Virtual Curtain Up! 2020” becomes available online on Friday, September 18th at 8 p.m. Viewing will be available for one week.

“Virtual Curtain Up! 2020 is a one-hour online presentation on YouTube. WNY theaters have provided video presentations about their work, and these are interspersed with performances from some of WNY’s most popular musical theater performers.

“Admission” to the virtual event is a suggested minimum donation of $10, with the inevitable opportunity to donate as much more as you care to. Proceeds to be divided among the participating theaters. To access the presentation, go to the Theater Alliance of Buffalo website at www.theatreallianceofbuffalo.com or the Theater District Association of WNY website at www.tda-wny.com.

A link will be sent to registered patrons, who can stream the event, beginning at 8 p.m.
