Road Less Traveled Postpones until 2021

One Buffalo theater takes a bold step to adjust around the global pandemic

In a letter to "artists, staff, patrons, sponsors, funders, and the Western New York community," Road Less Traveled Productions announced that in consideration of the health and safety of all, they have decided to postpone the re-opening of their physical theater doors until 2021. The Specifics are as follows:

  • They will be working to provide digital programming for the fall of 2020, which will include live digital performances as well as audio recordings.

  • They hope that when they re-open in 2021, they will be able to finish the remainder of their 2019-20 season, which was cut short. This would mean the continuation of Hand to God and then the reopening of The Curious Case of the Watson Intelligence.  They are also optimistic that they will present their Screen to Stage series with a reading of Beverly Hills Cop, their 10-Minute Play Festival and Buffalo Stories: The Life of Robert Gioia

  • Following a re-opening in early 2021, RLTP will shift the originally scheduled 2020-21 season one year forward to begin September 2021 with Murder Ballad.  The 2020-21 season will now become the 2021-22 season.

The message continues, "Road Less Traveled Productions has faced many obstacles over the past 5 years and we are truly grateful for the support of our community as we look forward to returning and re-opening our doors at 456 Main Street as soon as we can safely do so. "We appreciate you, we hear you and we want to see you in our home, even if it takes just a little more time.  We want to thank you, our entire community, for taking the road less traveled with us for over 17 years.  We are continuing to work hard and are excited to again, create and share live theatrical experiences with you.  Please know, our journey has only just begun…stay safe and be well.  We are Buffalo Strong."

The message is signed by Scott Behrend, artistic director, and Gina Gandolfo, managing director.
