Auditions for Shakespeare in Delaware Park’s 51st season will be held on November 22,23,24

 

Saturday, November 22 9am to 2pm OPEN CALL BY APPOINTMENT

Sunday, November 23 9am to 2pm The Taming of the Shrew CALL BACKS

Monday, November 24 5pm to 9pm Pericles, Price of Tyre  CALL BACKS

 

Auditions will be held at 625 Delaware Avenue, 3rd Floor

PERICLES, PRINCE OF TYRE - June 18-July 12 Director: Scott McKenna Campbell

THE TAMING OF THE SHREW - July 23-August 16 Director: Brendan Didio

Touring Production TBD - June 15-August 17 Director: Nathanial Higgins

 

Open Call Auditions are by Appointment Only.

Actors interested in being considered for the 2026 season must make an audition appointment 716-856-4533.   PLEASE DO NOT CALL UNTIL ON or AFTER NOVEMBER 3rd TO MAKE AN AUDITION APPOINTMENT.

 

SDP welcomes and strongly encourages performers of all ethnicities, gender identities, body types and those with disabilities who are over the age of 18 to audition.  To arrange an appointment, please call 716-856-4533.  All positions are paid.

Pericles, Prince of Tyre

Synopsis:Pericles, Prince of Tyre, flees his kingdom after uncovering a deadly secret about King Antiochus and his daughter. His adventures take him across the seas, where he wins the love of Princess Thaisa, survives shipwrecks and storms, and is separated from his family. Years later, through a series of miraculous reunions, Pericles is finally restored to his wife Thaisa and daughter Marina, whom he believed lost forever.​


Major Roles & Brief Descriptions:

·       Pericles: Noble prince who faces danger and hardship on his journey for truth and family.​

·       Thaisa: Princess of Pentapolis, Pericles's devoted wife, believed dead but miraculously revived​

·       Marina: Daughter of Pericles and Thaisa, raised apart from her parents and almost killed, known for her virtue.​

·       Helicanus: Loyal counselor to Pericles, who helps keep Tyre secure in his absence​

·       King Antiochus: Ruler whose dark secret forces Pericles into exile.​

·       Simonides: King of Pentapolis, Thaisa’s father, host of the jousting contest​

·       Cleon: Governor of Tarsus, later entrusted to care for Marina.​

·       Dionyza: Cleon’s wife, jealous of Marina and plots against her​

·       Cerimon: Kind physician in Ephesus who revives Thaisa.​

·       Gower: The narrator, acting as chorus​


The Taming of the Shrew

Synopsis:In Padua, proud and outspoken Katherina must be married off before her younger, gentler sister Bianca. Petruchio, seeking a wealthy wife, sets out to “tame” Katherina’s fiery spirit. Amid comedic disguises and suitor rivalries, Petruchio’s outrageous courtship leads to a controversial transformation. The play questions roles in marriage, gender, and identity, ending with an unexpected reversal at a wedding banquet. 


Major Roles & Brief Descriptions:

·       Katherina Minola: The ‘shrew’, intelligent and strong-willed; eldest daughter of Baptista. 

·       Petruchio: Boisterous bachelor determined to wed and “tame” Katherina.​

·       Bianca Minola: Younger sister, demure and much pursued by suitors.

·       Baptista Minola: Their wealthy father, intent on marrying off his daughters.​

·       Lucentio: Young scholar and Bianca’s main suitor, who wins her love.​

·       Tranio: Lucentio’s clever servant, who disguises himself as his master.​

·       Gremio: Elderly, comic suitor to Bianca.​

·       Hortensio: Another suitor to Bianca, later weds a widow.​

·       Grumio: Petruchio’s comic servant.​

·       Widow: Hortensio’s eventual wife, present at the play’s final scene.​

·       Others: Additional comic servants, teachers, and suitors round out the ensemble.
