Desiderio's has announced auditions for their next two productions at Bobby J's, 204 Como Park Blvd., Cheektowaga.

THE PLAY: MY THREE ANGELS by Samuel and Bella Spewack

Runs December 3, 2026 through January 31, 2027
This is a perfect holiday comedy with a wicked streak. It's Christmas Eve, 1910, in the French penal colony of Cayenne, and the Ducotel family's little general store is on the verge of ruin. Three convicts on work detail from the prison, assigned to fix the Ducotels' roof, overhear the family's troubles and decide to take matters into their own hands. When the family's heartless cousin arrives to take over the business, bringing along the nephew who has just broken the Ducotel daughter's heart, the three "angels" (with the help of their pet viper, Adolphe) set about arranging a very merry Christmas indeed.
The play opened on Broadway in 1953 and was a hit, later becoming the Humphrey Bogart film "We're No Angels." It's warm, sly, and genuinely funny, with a delightfully dark sense of justice.
ABOUT THE AUTHORS
Sam and Bella Spewack were one of the great husband and wife writing teams of the American stage. They wrote the Broadway comedies "Boy Meets Girl" and "Clear All Wires," contributed to Hollywood screenplays, and wrote the book for Cole Porter's "Kiss Me, Kate," which won the very first Tony Award for Best Musical. "My Three Angels," adapted from a French comedy by Albert Husson, shows them at their witty, well-crafted best.
THE PUBLISHED ROLES (7 men, 3 women)
Joseph: The ringleader of the convicts, a smooth, charming swindler who can talk his way into or out of anything. A great comic lead.
Jules: A convict with a gruff exterior and a surprisingly tender heart.
Alfred: The youngest of the three, handsome and a bit of a romantic.
Felix Ducotel: The kindly, hopelessly impractical shopkeeper, far too soft-hearted to succeed at business.
Emilie Ducotel: His loving, practical wife, trying to hold the family together.
Marie Louise Ducotel: Their daughter, young and lovestruck.
Henri Trochard: Felix's wealthy, miserly cousin who owns the business. A delicious villain.
Paul: Henri's nephew, Marie Louise's beloved, and a young man with no backbone.
Madame Parole: A shopper and local busybody.
The Lieutenant: The officer in charge of the convict work detail.
THE FOLLOWING PRODUCTION
A second show, title to be announced, directed by Jay Desiderio, runs February 18 through May 2, 2027. Actors are welcome to be considered for both.
AUDITION DETAILS
Monday, September 28, at 7 pm, with callbacks a few days later.
Please prepare a monologue of no more than one to two minutes (comedic preferred but not required). If you don't have a monologue ready, you may be asked to read from the script.Bring a photo and resume. Actors will be considered for both productions. The second show, directed by Jay Desiderio, runs February 18 through May 2, 2027.
